Mission Statement:
At Riverview, our "basic school" mission is to guarantee that ALL students learn to their full potential and produce quality work. It is our job as teachers and parents to create those "connections" that develop a sense of community, character and life-long learning. We strive to create a school climate that reinforces the "3 R's" of respect, responsibility and resourcefulness.

Educational Program:
Riverview offers a PreK-5 core curriculum program that focuses on providing students with a "basic school" foundation in language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, music, physical education, art and educational technology/information literacy. At the end of grade five, we expect all of our students to be able to demonstrate their competency with the state standards in each of these areas as well as the foundation skills of respect, responsibility, and resourcefulness.
Our program includes:

  • A school-wide focus on literacy with Title I and Read Naturally support programs.
  • A K-5 standards-based math program with the Accelerated Math computer program in Gr.3-5.
  • A full-day kindergarten program.
  • A full-day, four day a week integrated preschool program.
  • A "SUCCESS" model for providing early interventions to support students' learning needs prior to referral for special education services.
  • A K-5 resource program to support students with identified academic and/or behavior needs.
  • A K-5 O.W.L.S. program to provide advanced academics and enrichment for students in language arts and math.
  • A school-wide counseling program that includes a full time counselor and part time social worker to support students and families.
  • An English Language Learner program that provides services to students and families.
  • A Partner In Education Coordinator who provides services to families and coordinates volunteer activities.

Special Services:
Riverview offers a fully integrated special needs program for all levels of special-needs students through our K-5 resource and center-based special education programs as well as Title I to assist students in achieving grade-level proficiency in reading. Direct services are provided for all students who are of limited English proficiency. Riverview has a full-time elementary counselor and a Teacher Assistance Team that assists our teachers in more effectively serving students with learning and behavior challenges within the regular classroom setting. Our Independent Study program offers accelerated and extended learning opportunities for students who need additional challenge. Trained volunteer reading tutors provide both remedial and enrichment sessions for students.

Riverview Certified Staff:
Outstanding certified staff of 19 K-5 classroom teachers and 12 special teachers (music, physical education, art, three special education, counselor, media specialist, Independent Study, pre-school, and Title I Reading).

Riverview Support Staff:
